CITY OF CARMEL-BY-THE-SEA
March 29, 2011
I. CALL TO ORDER
The special meeting of the City Council of the City of Carmel-by-the-Sea, California, was held on the above date at the stated hour of 5:03 p.m. Mayor McCloud called the meeting to order.
II. ROLL CALL
PRESENT: Council Members Burnett, Hazdovac, Sharp, Talmage & McCloud
STAFF PRESENT: Heidi Burch, Asst. City Administrator/City Clerk
Mike Calhoun, Interim Police Chief
Molly Laughlin, Deputy City Clerk
III. PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE
Members of the audience joined the Mayor and Council Members in the Pledge of Allegiance.
Mayor McCloud opened the meeting to public comment at 5:04 p.m.
Carolyn Hardy, Diane Wolcott and Pauline Allen addressed Council.
Mayor McCloud closed the meeting to public comment at 5:07 p.m.
Mayor McCloud answered questions from the public.
Mayor McCloud re-opened the meeting to public comment at 5:12 p.m.
Carolyn Hardy and Diane Wolcott again addressed Council.
Mayor McCloud closed the meeting to public comment at 5:17 p.m.
IV. ADJOURN TO CLOSED SESSION
The Council adjourned to Closed Session at 5:18 p.m. to consider the following:
A. Public Employment – Government Code Section 54957.
Title: Interim City Administrator.
V. RECONVENE IN OPEN SESSION
Council reconvened in Open Session at 6:22 p.m.
Mayor McCloud announced that Council had met in Closed Session and decided to schedule interviews with those few selected individuals for the interim City Administrator who had received the highest rankings from Council members.
VI. ORDERS OF COUNCIL
A. Review proposals for a search firm for the recruitment of a permanent City Administrator and set a time/place for interviews or appoint a search firm.
Mayor McCloud reported that seven firms submitted proposals. By consensus, Council agreed to interview its four top-rated firms. Those selected firms are (alphabetically): Ralph Andersen & Associates; Avery & Associates; Bob Murray & Associates; and Peckham & McKenney.
V. ADJOURNMENT
Mayor McCloud declared the meeting adjourned at 6:37 p.m.
