Name: Consideration of a Resolution accepting a gift of $2,000 from Alan G. & Jean R. Pederson for the Carmel Police Department K-9 program.

Description: On November 9, 2007 the Carmel Police Department received check# 1130
in the amount of $2,000 from Alan G. and Jean R. Pedersen, Trustees. The check is designated as a gift to pay for costs relating to the Carmel Police Department K-9 program. The police department anticipates establishing a K-9 program in the future.

Staff Recommendation: Approve the resolution accepting the $2,000 gift from Mr. Alan G. and Ms. Jean R. Pedersen to cover expenses relating to the Carmel Police Department K-9 program.

Important Considerations: According to City Policy C89-41, all donations and gifts to the City with a value in excess of $1,000 must be approved and accepted by Resolution of the City Council.

Decision Record: Resolution 2007-12 accepting $2,000 donation from Mr. and Mrs.
Pedersen for the K-9 program.

RESOLUTION NO. 2007-
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CARMEL-BY-THE-SEA ACCEPTING A GIFT OF $2,000 FROM MR. ALAN G. & JEAN R. PEDERSEN TO PAY FOR EXPENSES RELATING TO THE CARMEL POLICE DEPARTMENT K-9 PROGRAM

WHEREAS, the Carmel Police Department intends to establish a K-9 Program in calendar year 2007; and

WHEREAS, this gift is restricted to support costs associated with the operations and events relating to the Carmel Police Department K-9 program; and

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED THAT THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF CARMEL-BY-THE-SEA DOES:

1. Accept with gratitude the $2,000 donation from Mr. Alan G. & Jean Pedersen, and deposit said funds in the police department donation account #50-24050-0531.

2. Direct the Mayor to send a letter of thanks and appreciation to Mr. Alan G. & Jean Pedersen for their generous donation.

3. Direct the City Clerk to inscribe Mr. and Mrs. Jean Pedersen and the nature of the gift on the scroll of Gifts to the City located in the lobby of City Hall.
