SPECIAL MEETING OF THE COMMUNITY ACTIVITIES & CULTURAL COMMISSION
CITY OF CARMEL-BY-THE-SEA
JUNE 28, 2011


I. CALL TO ORDER
II. ROLL CALL – Clyde Klaumann, Dixie Dixon, Donna Jett, Conrad Kohrs, Ruth Rachel
PRESENT: Commission Members Klaumann, Rachel, Dixon, & Jett
ABSENT: Kohrs
STAFF PRESENT: Heidi Burch, Assistant City Administrator
Cindi Lopez-Frincke, Community Services Assistant

III. PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE

Members of the audience joined Commission Members in the pledge of allegiance.

IV. Receive report and develop a recommendation on the Carmel Art and Film Festival

Tom Burns, organizer of this event, advised the Commission that at this time he has no sponsorship for the 3rd Annual Carmel Art and Film Festival. He received a grant of $3,750 from the Arts Council and was anticipating a $40,000 grant from the Harden Foundation. Burns requested a $10,000 donation from the city as well as a waiver of all fees associated with this event. With the possibility of Governor Jerry Brown and other celebrities attending the event Burns advised that he has a security group scheduled who will work with the Carmel Police Department for security of Governor Brown.

Following discussion the Commission suggested that Burns address the Council for their approval of the $10,000 donation, free use of city facilities, and a waiver of all fees.

V. ADJOURNMENT

There being no further business to come before the Commission, Chair Klaumann adjourned the meeting at 1:48 a.m.
