Name: Consideration of a Resolution authorizing an expenditure of $1,000 from the Mayor’s Youth Fund to support Carmel High School’s “Sober Grad Night” on June 13, 2008.

Description: The purpose of Sober Grad Night is to provide a graduation party in a safe environment for each year’s high school graduating class. The money goes towards
decorating the gym and providing prizes for the students.

Overall Cost:
City Funds: $1,000 from the Mayor’s Youth Fund account 50-24050-0726
Grant Funds: N/A

Staff Recommendation: Adopt the resolution.

Important Considerations: This is the 16th year of Carmel High School’s “Sober Grad Night” and it has grown to become a successful and highly anticipated event each year.

Decision Record: The Council approves annually a donation from the Mayor’s Youth Fund in support of “Sober Grad Night.” Last year’s donation was approved with Resolution 2007-18.

A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CARMEL-BY-THE-SEA AUTHORIZING AN EXPENDITURE OF $1,000 FROM THE MAYOR’S YOUTH FUND TO SUPPORT CARMEL HIGH SCHOOL’S “SOBER GRAD NIGHT” ON JUNE 13, 2008

WHEREAS, the Fundraising Committee of the Carmel High School Sober Grad Night
2008 has asked that the City of Carmel-by-the-Sea donate funds to support Carmel High’s 16th Annual Sober Grand Night; and

WHEREAS, sufficient funds exist in the Mayor’s Youth Fund account 50-24050-0726 to
cover this expense.

NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CARMEL-BY-THE-SEA DOES:

1. Authorize an expenditure from the Mayor’s Youth Fund account 50-24050-0726
in the amount of $1,000 to assist with the 2008 Carmel High School Sober Grad
Night.
