Name: Consideration of a Resolution establishing the Rebecca M. Tarumoto Memorial
Fund deposit account at the request of David Tarumoto and accepting donations to the deposit account.

Description: This resolution will establish a new deposit account memorial fund in the memory of Rebecca M. Tarumoto, a resident of Carmel-by-the-Sea who died on October 29, 2007. The memorial fund was requested by Rebecca’s husband David Tarumoto, as a tribute to the memory of his wife. Donations received by the City in memory of Rebecca M. Tarumoto will be placed in deposit account 50-24050-0641. Distributions from the deposit account for a memorial will be determined at a later date once donations have all been received. The amount of donations received to date is $625.00.

Staff Recommendation: Approve the resolution.

Important Considerations: City Policy C89-41 requires City Council approval for all donations and gifts with a value of over $1,000.

Decision Record: Resolution 2005-14 dated March 1, 2005 that amends Policy C89-41
regarding the donation threshold and bench donation guidelines.

RESOLUTION 2008-
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CARMEL-BY-THE-SEA ESTABLISHING THE REBECCA M. TARUMOTO MEMORIAL FUND DEPOSIT ACCOUNT AND ACCEPTING DONATIONS TO THE DEPOSIT ACCOUNT.

WHEREAS, City Policy C89-41 allows gifts and donations, including gifts to memorialize a resident of the Carmel-by-the-Sea; and

WHEREAS, the City received a request to establish a memorial fund for Rebecca M.Tarumoto, a deceased resident of Carmel-by-the-Sea; and

WHEREAS, a memorial fund deposit account can be established for donations received by the City in memory of Rebecca M. Tarumoto; and

WHEREAS, distributions from the deposit account will be used for a memorial.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED THAT THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CARMEL-BY-THE-SEA DOES:

1. Establish the Rebecca M. Tarumoto Memorial Fund deposit account 50-24050-0641.

2. Accept donations to the memorial fund deposit account received in memory of
Rebecca M. Tarumoto.
