Matters not appearing on the Community Activities & Cultural Commission agenda will not receive action at this meeting. Presentation will be limited to three minutes, or as established by the Community Activities & Cultural Commission.

I. CALL TO ORDER AND ROLL CALL
PRESENT:Commission Members Klaumann, Jett, Dixon, Rachel
ABSENT: KOHRS
STAFF PRESENT: Heidi Burch, Assistant City Administrator
Cindi Lopez-Frincke, Community Services Assistant
Sarah Gunter, Community Services Assistant

II. PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE

Members of the audience joined Commission Members in the pledge of allegiance.

III. APPEARANCES

None.

IV. APPROVAL OF MINUTES

Commissioner DIXON moved ratification of the minutes from the October 5, 2010, special meeting seconded by Commissioner RACHEL and carried by the following roll call vote:

AYES: KLAUMANN, JETT, DIXON, RACHEL
NOES: NONE
ABSENT: KOHRS
ABSTAIN: NONE

V. ORDERS OF BUSINESS

A. Susan Love; Run in the Name of Love, June 19, 2011

Susan Love requested a waiver from the city’s sound restrictions to begin announcing the event at 8:00 a.m. Susan Love handed out a map outlining where port-a-potties, trucks, tables, chairs, sound equipment, etc., would be located at the Del Mar parking lot as well as pictures of the omni they plan to set up on San Carlos and 9th. Susan Love plans on sending out notification to the residents in the area of the Sunset Center regarding the event.

B. Consideration: Aimee Cuda, Carmel Foundation 1K-5K Walk/Run

Due to the conflict of interest (three of the four present Commissioners are members of the Carmel Foundation) this item was continued to the February 8, 2011 Commission meeting.

C. Review Special Event Permit Form

After discussion the determination was made to make a few changes to the current permit and e-mail the changes to the Commissioners for further review at the February 9, 2011 meeting.

VI. ANNOUNCEMENTS FROM THE CHAIR AND/OR COMMISSIONERS

Chairman Klaumann advised the Commissioners of a possible farmer’s market being held at Sunset Center.

VII. ANNOUNCEMENTS FROM THE ASSISTANT CITY ADMINISTRATOR-RECEIVE AND DISCUSS REPORTS, PROVIDE DIRECTION AS NECESSARY.
Assistant City Administrator Burch advised the Commissioners of openings for Forest & Beach and Library Commissions.

There being no further business to come before the Commission, Chair Klaumann adjourned the meeting at 10:30 a.m.
