Name: Consideration of a Resolution approving three pieces of public safety equipment
as surplus and authorizing their sale.

Description: The City’s Police and Fire departments have recently acquired three pieces of equipment that make older models obsolete or unnecessary. Adopting this Resolution will approve that the three pieces of equipment listed in Exhibit “A” are surplus and will authorize the Fire and Police departments to sell these assets.

Staff Recommendation: Staff recommends Council approve this Resolution.

Important Considerations: The three pieces of equipment listed in Attachment “A”
have been replaced by newer models, rendering them surplus. The list was reviewed and
approved by Public Safety Director George Rawson.

RESOLUTION 2009-
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CARMEL-BY-THE-SEA AUTHORIZING THE SURPLUS AND SALE OF PUBLIC SAFETY EQUIPMENT

WHEREAS, certain City-owned public safety equipment located at the Fire and
Police departments, as listed in the attached Exhibit “A”, are no longer useful to the City by virtue of their age or replacement with more modern technology; and

WHEREAS, City Council approval is required for sale of equipment.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED THAT THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CARMEL-BY-THE-SEA DOES:

1. Declare the list of assets on Exhibit “A” as surplus equipment.

2. Authorize the sale of the equipment.

3. Authorize any sale proceeds to be deposited to General Fund Account 01-46801-0003.
