Anyone wishing to address the Commission on items within its jurisdiction may do so now. Please rise, state your name and the matter on which you wish to speak. Matters not appearing on the Community Activities & Cultural Commission agenda will not receive action at this meeting. Presentation will be limited to three minutes, or as established by the Community Activities & Cultural Commission.

IV. Approval of minutes for the meeting of May 10, 2011 and Special Meeting of June 28, 2011.

I. CALL TO ORDER AND ROLL CALL
PRESENT: Commission Members Klaumann, Jett, Rachel, Dixon
ABSENT: Kohrs
STAFF PRESENT: Cindi Lopez-Frincke, Community Services Assistant
Sarah Gunter, Community Services Assistant

II. PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE

Members of the audience joined Commission Members in the pledge of allegiance.

III. APPEARANCES

None.

IV. APPROVAL OF MINUTES

Commissioner DIXON moved ratification of the minutes from the May 10, 2011 meeting seconded by Commissioner RACHEL and carried by the following roll call vote:

AYES: KLAUMANN, JETT, RACHEL,DIXON
NOES: NONE
ABSENT: KOHRS
ABSTAIN: NONE

Commissioner DIXON moved ratification of the minutes from the Special Meeting June 28, 2011 meeting seconded by Commissioner RACHEL and carried by the following roll call vote:

AYES: KLAUMANN, JETT, RACHEL,DIXON
NOES: NONE
ABSENT: KOHRS
ABSTAIN: NONE

V. ORDERS OF BUSINESS

A. Consideration of Dolphin Race, Brian Mullen, Event Coordinator

Brian Mullen advised the Commission via e-mail that he would not be able to attend the Commission meeting to outline his event. Following discussion the Commissioners agreed that before Mr. Mullen can hold his event he must appear before the Commission with a letter from the Coastal Commission, Insurance Certificate, completed special event permit, and applicable fees for his event on the beach. Community Services Assistant, Cindi Lopez-Frincke, notified Mr. Mullen via e-mail of what the Commissioners decided.

B. Preliminary Discussions/Centennial Committee to Celebrate the City’s 100th Birthday in 2016

Commissioners were given a memo with preliminary ideas for the Centennial celebration. Commissioners, Jett, Dixon, and Rachel volunteered to join the Committee once one was established.

VI. ANNOUNCEMENTS FROM THE CHAIR AND/OR COMMISSIONERS

None.

VII. ANNOUNCEMENTS FROM THE ASSISTANT CITY ADMINISTRATOR-RECEIVE AND DISCUSS REPORTS, PROVIDE DIRECTION AS NECESSARY.

There being no further business to come before the Commission, Chair Klaumann adjourned the meeting at 10:03 a.m.
