1. Develop and Approve an Arbor Day Event for 2011 and Request the City Council Approve Co-sponsorship of the event with the Friends of Carmel Forest.
IV. ADJOURNMENT

Any writings or documents provided to a majority of the Forest and Beach Commission regarding any item on this agenda will be made available for public inspection in the Planning and Building Department located at City Hall, on Monte Verde between Ocean and 7th Avenues during normal business hours.

If there is not a special meeting, the next regular meeting of the Forest and Beach Commission will be:

I. CALL TO ORDER AND ROLL CALL

The special meeting of the Forest and Beach Commission of the City of Carmel-by-the-Sea, California was held on the above date at the hour of 2:31 p.m. Chairperson Leverone called the meeting to order.

PRESENT: Lisa Boardman
Joe Ford
Tom Leverone - Chairperson
Les Kadis

ABSENT: Todd Hornik

STAFF PRESENT: Mike Branson, City Forester
Molly Laughlin, Deputy City Clerk (for Margi Perotti)

II. PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE

Members of the audience joined the Commission in the Pledge of Allegiance.

III. ORDERS OF BUSINESS

Develop and Approve an Arbor Day Event for 2011 and Request the City Council Approve Co-sponsorship of the event with the Friends of Carmel Forest.
Commissioner Boardman gave the presentation and reported on behalf of the Arbor Day Planning Committee that she has investigated possible dates and venues for the Arbor Day lecture series program as well as participants.

Commissioner LEVERONE moved to approve the program as outlined by the Arbor Day Planning Committee with a request for co-sponsorship with Friends of the Forest and request City co-sponsorship of the event on October 27th and split the event expenses between the co-sponsoring groups in an amount not to exceed $500, seconded by FORD, and carried by the following voice vote:

AYES: COMMISSION MEMBERS: BOARDMAN; FORD; LEVERONE; KADIS
NOES: COMMISSION MEMBERS: NONE
ABSTAINED: COMMISSION MEMBERS: NONE
ABSENT: COMMISSION MEMBERS: HORNIK

Commissioner LEVERONE moved to authorize the Arbor Day Planning Committee to work with Friends of the Forest to finalize any remaining details on the event, seconded by FORD, and carried by the following voice vote:

AYES: COMMISSION MEMBERS: BOARDMAN; FORD; LEVERONE; KADIS
NOES: COMMISSION MEMBERS: NONE
ABSTAINED: COMMISSION MEMBERS: NONE
ABSENT: COMMISSION MEMBERS: HORNIK

IV. ADJOURNMENT

There being no further business, Chairperson LEVERONE adjourned the meeting at 2:54 p.m.
