HARRISON MEMORIAL LIBRARY BOARD OF TRUSTEES
CITY OF CARMEL-BY-THE-SEA
November 23, 2011
I. CALL TO ORDER
The regular meeting of the Harrison Memorial Library Board of Trustees of the City of Carmel-by-the-Sea was held on the above date at 9:00 a.m. President MOSHER called the meeting to order.
II. ROLL CALL
Board Members
PRESENT: MOSHER, MOZINGO, REIMERS
ABSENT: COLLINS, UNGARETTI
STAFF PRESENT: Janet Bombard, Library Director
Carolina Lopez, Library Office Assistant
III. ANNOUNCEMENTS FROM LIBRARY BOARD & DIRECTOR:
Board President Mosher wished everyone a safe and a Happy Thanksgiving.

Board Member REIMERS moved to, approve the minutes October 27, 2011 Regular Meeting, seconded by Board Member MOZINGO and carried by the following roll call vote:
AYES: MOSHER, MOZINGO, REIMERS
NOES: NONE
ABSENT: COLLINS, UNGARETTI
ABSTAIN: NONE
VI. ORDERS OF BUSINESS:
A. Receive Report From the Carmel Public Library Foundation Regarding CPLF Activities
Carmel Public Library Foundation President Leslie Snorf that the Sunset Center is very happy to hold the CPLF lecture series in their venue. CPLF is planning a lecture series for parents and as the project develops more news will be coming. Some local business owners are offering 20% of their sales to the Library Foundation. Leslie announced the new Board Members for the Foundation: Jean Stivers, Bill Scearce, Christy Downing and Cheryl Carter.
B. Annual Election of Library Board Officers
Board Member MOSHER moved to, Elect Board Member Nancy Collins for President, Board Member Elizabeth Ungaretti for Vice President and Board Member Niels Reimers for Treasurer, seconded by Board Member MOZINGO and carried by the following roll call vote:
AYES: MOSHER, MOZINGO, REIMERS
NOES: NONE
ABSENT: COLLINS, UNGARETTI
ABSTAIN: NONE
C. Consideration of Proposed Amendment to Library Policy Which Would Allow Covered Water Bottles in the Library
Board Member REIMERS moved to, Amend Library Policy Which Would Allow
Covered Water Bottles in the Library, seconded by Board Member MOZINGO and carried by the following roll call vote:
AYES: MOSHER, MOZINGO, REIMERS
NOES: NONE
ABSENT: COLLINS, UNGARETTI
ABSTAIN: NONE
D. Consideration of Request to Close Library January 12, 2012 for Collection Maintenance
Board Member MOZINGO moved to, approve the Closure of the Library January 12, 2012 for Collection Maintenance, seconded by Board Member REIMERS and carried by the following roll call vote:
AYES: MOSHER, MOZINGO, REIMERS
NOES: NONE
ABSENT: COLLINS, UNGARETTI
ABSTAIN: NONE
E. Provide Policy Direction Regarding Whether to Hold December 28, 2011 Library Board of Trustees Meeting
Board Member REIMERS moved to, direct staff to find out whether there would be enough Board members present to have a forum for the December meeting, seconded by Board Member MOZINGO and carried by the following roll call vote:
AYES: MOSHER, MOZINGO, REIMERS
NOES: NONE
ABSENT: COLLINS, UNGARETTI
ABSTAIN: NONE
VII. LIBRARIAN’S REPORT:
Library Director Janet Bombard announced that the Food for Fines program has begun. The Annual Patron Party will be December 2nd and Janet extended an invitation to all the Board Members to come and enjoy the home baked goodies. The Library will be closed January 1st, 2012. Janet also reported that Mr. Marcello finished his audit of the Library.
Library Director reviewed monthly statistics.
VIII. TREASURERS REPORT:
Board Member MOSHER moved to, accept the August 31st, 2011 and September 30, 2011 Financial Statements and October 31, 2011 check register, seconded by Board Member MOZINGO and carried by the following roll call vote:
AYES: MOSHER, MOZINGO, REIMERS
NOES: NONE
ABSENT: COLLINS, UNGARETTI
ABSTAIN: NONE
IX. ADJOURNMENT:
There being no further business to come before the Board, the President declared the meeting adjourned at 9:46 a.m. The next regular meeting is scheduled for December 28, 2011.
