Description: The Library Board of Trustees and the Carmel Public Library Foundation request that the City co-sponsor the Annual Donor Salute on Sunday, February 28, 2010, and request that the City Administrator reserve two public parking spaces for valet parking service during the event.

Important Considerations: This annual event is intended to thank Carmel Public Library Foundation donors.

City Policy C89-47 requires support groups to obtain City Council co-sponsorship for events where alcohol is served. The Carmel Public Library Foundation will secure a Daily License Permit from the Department of Alcoholic Beverage Control.

Decision Record: City Council has approved co-sponsorship of the Annual Donor Salute since 1994.

A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CARMEL-BY-THE-SEA CO-SPONSORING THE FEBRUARY 28, 2010 ANNUAL DONOR SALUTE WITH THE HARRISON MEMORIAL LIBRARY BOARD OF TRUSTEES AND CARMEL PUBLIC LIBRARY FOUNDATION

WHEREAS, the City’s Support Groups Policy requires support groups to obtain City Council approval to co-sponsor events, particularly those at which alcohol is served; and

WHEREAS, the Library Board of Trustees and the Carmel Public Library Foundation request City co-sponsorship of the Annual Donor Salute on February 28, 2010 at the Harrison Memorial Main Library; and

WHEREAS, two parking stalls are needed to provide valet parking service safely at this event:

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED THAT THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CARMEL-BY-THE-SEA DOES:

1. Agree to co-sponsor with the Harrison Memorial Library Board of Trustees and Carmel Public Library Foundation Annual Donor Salute event on February 28, 2010.

2. Authorize the Library Director to notify the Harrison Memorial Library Board of Trustees and Carmel Public Library Foundation of the Council’s agreement to cosponsor the Annual Donor Salute event.

3. Authorize City staff to officially notify the City’s insurance carrier of the cosponsorship.

4. Authorize the City Administrator to reserve two public parking stalls on the north side of Ocean Avenue at Lincoln Street during the Donor Salute event for valet parking.
