Anyone wishing to address the Commission on items within its jurisdiction may do so now. Please rise, state your name and the matter on which you wish to speak. Matters not appearing on the Community Activities & Cultural Commission agenda will not receive action at this meeting. Presentation will be limited to three minutes, or as established by the Community Activities & Cultural Commission.

MINUTES
COMMUNITY ACTIVITIES & CULTURAL COMMISSION
CITY OF CARMEL-BY-THE-SEA
MARCH 9, 2010
I. CALL TO ORDER AND ROLL CALL PRESENT: Commission Members Klaumann, Rachel, Dixon, Jett &
Kohrs (arrived at 9:35 a.m.)
ABSENT: NONE
STAFF PRESENT: Heidi Burch, Assistant City Administrator Cindi Lopez-Frincke, Community Services Assistant
II. PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE
Members of the audience joined Commission Members in the pledge of allegiance.
III. APPEARANCES
Nancy Budd, Director of the Center for Photographic Art addressed the Commission regarding the Center’s proposal on how to support youth in the area by photography. She will attend the April 13, 2010, Commission meeting with the Center’s proposal.
IV. APPROVAL OF MINUTES
Commissioner JETT moved ratification of the minutes from the February 9, 2010, meeting seconded by Commissioner DIXON and carried by the following roll call vote:
AYES: DIXON, JETT, RACHEL, KOHRS
NOES: NONE
ABSENT: NONE
ABSTAIN: KLAUMANN
V. ORDERS OF BUSINESS
A. Goals of Commissioners for 2010
Following the tour of the Vista Lobos Complex the Commissioners determined that the linoleum floors throughout the room, in the kitchen, utility room and restroom need cleaning on a regular basis, or possibly be replaced. Another suggestion was to apply a new coat of paint throughout the main room, utility room, restroom and kitchen, plus purchasing and installing metal shelves for more storage in the kitchen area.
Assistant City Administrator, Heidi Burch, advised the Commission that Goals of the Commission need to be completed by March 25, 2010, and suggested that the Commissioners write down their ideas and Commissioner DIXON offered to draft a proposal once all suggestions were received by her. In order to complete the Goals of the Commission it was agreed to hold a Special Meeting to address the goals as well as further discuss reviewing Fees for Special Event Permits. The Special Meeting will be held Wednesday, March 17, 2010, at 10:00 a.m.
B. Review of Fees for Special Event Permits
Corporal Steve Rana addressed the Commission regarding charging a $125 non-refundable processing fee for all requests for a special event permit. The Commission was given an outline of what fees could be charged for events. The Commission agreed to review the memo on their own then to further discuss this matter at the March 17,2010, Special Commission Meeting.
