Anyone wishing to address the Commission on items within its jurisdiction may do so now. Please rise, state your name and the matter on which you wish to speak. Matters not appearing on the Community Activities & Cultural Commission agenda will not receive action at this meeting. Presentation will be limited to three minutes, or as established by the Community Activities & Cultural Commission.

I. CALL TO ORDER AND ROLL CALL PRESENT: Commission Members Klaumann, Rachel, Dixon, Jett
ABSENT: Kohrs
STAFF PRESENT: Heidi Burch, Assistant City Administrator Cindi Lopez-Frincke, Community Services Assistant
II. PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE
Members of the audience joined Commission Members in the pledge of allegiance.
III. APPEARANCES
None.
IV. APPROVAL OF MINUTES
Commissioner DIXON moved ratification of the minutes from the April 13, 2010, meeting seconded by Commissioner RACHEL and carried by the following roll call vote:
AYES: KLAUMANN, DIXON, JETT, RACHEL
NOES: NONE
ABSENT: KOHRS
ABSTAIN: NONE
V. ORDERS OF BUSINESS
A. Presentation by Susan Love and Mike Dove – “Run in the Name of Love 5K”
Susan Love presented the Commission her proposal for an event entitled RUN IN THE NAME OF LOVE 5K to be held Sunday, June 19, 2011, including a detailed map for the 5K run and 2K walk.
After discussion, a motion was made by Commissioner JETT, seconded by Commissioner DIXON for recommendation to the City Council for this event to proceed. The motion was carried by the following roll call vote:
AYES: KLAUMANN, DIXON, JETT, RACHEL
NOES: NONE
ABSENT: KOHRS
ABSTAIN: NONE
B. Presentation by Carrie Ann, Dawson Cole Galleries for a request to put a resin statue in Devendorf Park during the U.S. Open
Ms. Ann presented the Commission her special event permit and photographs of the resin statue the Dawson-Cole Gallery would like to put in Devendorf Park during the U.S. Open held June 11 through June 21, 2010. Ms. Ann will be present during the June 8, 2010 Council meeting.
After discussion, a motion was made by Commissioner DIXON, seconded by Commissioner RACHEL for recommendation to the City Council for this event to proceed. The motion was carried by the following roll call vote:
AYES: KLAUMANN, DIXON, JETT, RACHEL
NOES: NONE
ABSENT: KOHRS
ABSTAIN: NONE
VI. ANNOUNCEMENTS FROM THE CHAIR AND/OR COMMISSIONERS
Commissioner JETT updated the Commissioners regarding the Forest Theater Centennial event to be held August 29, 2010.
VII. ANNOUNCEMENTS FROM THE ASSISTANT CITY ADMINISTRATOR-RECEIVE AND DISCUSS REPORTS, PROVIDE DIRECTION AS NECESSARY.
None.
VIII. FUTURE AGENDA ITEMS
A. Discuss canceling the August 10, 2010 Community Activities & Cultural Commission meeting.
IX. ADJOURNMENT
There being no further business to come before the Commission, Chair Klaumann adjourned the meeting at 10:25 a.m.
