I. CALL TO ORDER

The special meeting of the City Council of the City of Carmel-by-the-Sea, California, was held on the above date at the stated hour of 5:01 p.m. Mayor McCloud called the meeting to order.

II. ROLL CALL

PRESENT: Council Members Burnett; Hazdovac; Sharp; Talmage & McCloud

STAFF PRESENT: Rich Guillen, City Administrator
Molly Laughlin, Deputy City Clerk
Mike Calhoun, Interim Police Chief

III. PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE

Members of the audience joined the Mayor and Council Members in the Pledge of Allegiance.

IV. ORDERS OF COUNCIL

A. Authorize staff to circulate a Request for Proposals (RFP) for a search firm for a new City Administrator.

Mayor McCloud opened the public appearances section for comment at 5:04 p.m.

Speaking to the issue: Monte Miller; Tony Bhutani; Dave Berger; Fila Barnett; Ken White; Skip Lloyd; Kathy Frederickson; Jim Emery; Carolyn Hardy; and Brian McNamara.

Mayor McCloud closed the public appearances section for comment at 5:20 p.m.

Council Member BURNETT moved to authorize staff to circulate a Request for Proposals (RFP) for a search firm for a new City Administrator with the following amendments: change the recruitment goal period to “Summer 2011”; change the deadline for submittal of RFPs to end of day Wednesday, March 9; and include among the Tasks the solicitation of community input, seconded by Council Member TALMAGE, and approved unanimously.

V. ADJOURNMENT

Mayor McCloud declared the meeting adjourned at 5:42 p.m.
