Name: Consideration of a Resolution accepting a grant of $12,500 from the Community Foundation of Monterey County for the preservation of the Devendorf-Galante Historical Collection.

Description: The City received a $12,500 grant from the Engracia Irene Murray Field of Interest Fund of the Community Foundation of Monterey County. The grant is intended to preserve and provide public access to the Devendorf-Galante Historical Collection housed in the City Local History Room at the Park Branch Library. At present, the collection is too fragile for the public to view and use, so this grant will allow staff to make the collection accessible through microfilm and digital copying.

Grant Funds: $12,500

Staff Recommendation: Approve the Resolution accepting the grant of $12,500 from the Community Foundation for Monterey County for curatorial work on the Devendorf-Galante Historical Collection.

Important Considerations: City Policy C91-01 states that the City Council has the final responsibility for the distribution and allocation of all grant appropriations.

ACCEPTING A GRANT OF $12,500
FROM THE COMMUNITY FOUNDATION FOR MONTEREY COUNTY
FOR PRESERVATION OF THE DEVENDORF-GALANTE
HISTORICAL COLLECTION
WHEREAS, the City of Carmel-by-the-Sea received a grant of $12,500 from the Engracia
Irene Murray Field of Interest Fund of the Community Foundation for Monterey County; and
WHEREAS, the grant is to be used to make microfilm and digital copies of the collection to
enable the public to view and research the collection.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED THAT THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF CARMEL-BY-THE-SEA DOES:
1. Accept with gratitude the grant of $12,500 from the Engracia Irene Murray Field of
Interest Fund of the Community Foundation for Monterey County for deposit into
Account 50-24050-0776.
