Name: Consideration of a Resolution accepting a donation of $4,999 from Augustina for the Carmel Police Department’s new Bike Patrol and diversion programs.

Description: In appreciation to the City of Carmel Police Department, Carmel merchant Augustina has donated a check in the amount of $4,999 to support the Department’s new Bike Patrol and diversion programs.

Overall Cost: City Funds: N/A
Grant Funds: $4,999.00

Staff Recommendation: Approve the Resolution to accept the $4,999 donation from Carmel merchant Augustina.

Important Considerations: City Policy C89-41, Acceptance of Donations and Gifts to the City, requires that City Council approve donations greater than $1,000. The donation of $4,999 will be divided between two Carmel Police Department Deposit Accounts #50-24050-0536 (Diversion Programs) and #50-24050-0537 (Bike Patrol), the two uses requested by the donor.

A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CARMEL-BY-THE-SEA ACCEPTING A DONATION OF A $4,999 DONATION FROM AUGUSTINA FOR THE CARMEL POLICE DEPARTMENT’S NEW BIKE PATROL AND DIVERSION PROGRAMS


WHEREAS, Carmel merchant Augustina generously donated $4,999 to the Carmel Police Department to support its new bike patrol and diversion; and

WHEREAS, the City’s Policy C89-41, Acceptance of Donations and Gifts to the City, requires City Council approval for donations larger than $1,000.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED THAT THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CARMEL-BY-THE-SEA DOES:

1. Accept with gratitude the donation of $4,999 from Augustina and authorize its deposit divided between two Carmel Police Deposit Accounts #50-24050-0536 (Diversion Programs) and #50-24050-0537 (Bike Patrol).

2. Request that the Mayor and Interim Police Chief send a letter of thanks.
