Thank you for attending the meeting. Anyone wishing to address the Commission on matters within the jurisdiction of the Commission may do so now. Please state the matter on which you wish to speak. Matters not appearing on the Commission's agenda will not receive action at this meeting but may be referred to staff for a future meeting.  Presentations will be limited to three minutes, or as established by the Commission. Persons are not required to give their name or address, but it is helpful for speakers to state their name in order that the Secretary may identify them.

1. Consideration of the minutes for the 2 August 2012 regular meeting.

V. ORDERS OF BUSINESS

1. Discussion of a request from a group of residents for removal of most of the trees in the North Dunes area of Carmel Beach.

2. Consideration and approval of an Arbor Day Event for 2012.

VI. REPORTS FROM STAFF AND COMMISSION

1. Receive report from the Ad Hoc Beach Committee.

2. Forester's report.

VII. ADJOURNMENT

Any writings or documents provided to a majority of the Forest and Beach Commission regarding any item on this agenda will be made available for public inspection in the Planning and Building Department located at
City Hall, on Monte Verde between Ocean and 7tlt Avenues during normal business hours.

If there is not a special meeting, the next regular meeting of the Forest and Beach Commission will be:

ABSENT: Lisa Boardman

STAFF PRESENT: Mike Branson, City Forester
Leslie Fenton, Administrative Coordinator

II. PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE

Members of the audience joined Commission Members in the pledge of allegiance.

IV. CONSENT AGENDA

1. Consideration of the minutes for the 2 August 2012 Regular Meeting.

Commissioner REFUERZO moved to approve the Consent Agenda as amended, seconded by KADIS and carried by the following roll call vote:

AYES: Kadis, F erlito, Refuerzo, Leverone
NOES: None
ABSTAIN: None
ABSENT: Boardman

V. ORDERS OF BUSINESS

1. Discussion of a request from a group of residents for removal of most of the trees in the North Dunes area of Carmel Beach.

Mike Branson, City Forester, presented the staff report. Chair Leverone opened the public hearing at 2:17p.m. Niels Reimers, Wayne Kelley, Courtney Duke, Joyce Stevens, Clayton Anderson, Alison Shelley, Andrea Thatcher, Cathy Bang, Linda Anderson, John Dotson, Fred Degrass, John Dilks, Cindy Lloyd and Bill Sears appeared before the Commission. There being no other appearances, the public hearing was closed at 2:57 p.m.

There was no motion. Discussion purposes only.

2. Consideration and approval of an Arbor Day Event for 2012.

Mike Branson, City Forester, presented the staff report. Chair Leverone opened the public hearing at 3 :27 p.m. There being no other appearances, the public hearing was closed at 3:27 p.m.

Commissioner KADIS moved to accept the Cherry Tree planting as the Arbor Day Event but to also look further into an event featuring Peter, seconded by REFUERZO and carried by the following roll call vote:

AYES: Kadis, Ferlito, Refuerzo, Leverone
NOES: None
ABSTAIN: None
ABSENT: Boardman

VI. REPORTS FROM STAFF AND COMMISSION

1. Receive report from Ad hoc Beach Committee.

Commissioner Refuerzo presented the report.

2. Forester's Report

Mike Branson, City Forester, presented the report.

VII. ADJOURNMENT

There being no further business, Chairperson LEVERONE adjourned the meeting at 3:46 p.m.
