Thank you for attending the meeting. Anyone
wishing to address the Commission on matters within the jurisdiction of the
Commission may do so now. Please state
the matter on which you wish to speak.
Matters not appearing on the Commission’s agenda will not receive action
at this meeting but may be referred to staff for a future meeting. Presentations will be limited to three
minutes, or as established by the Commission. Persons are not required to give
their name or address, but it is helpful for speakers to state their name in
order that the Secretary may identify them.

1. Consideration of the minutes for the 5 April 2012 regular meeting.

1. Consideration of an application to remove one Monterey pine (36” diameter) due to damage to a walkway. The site is located on the north side of Tenth Ave., 2 west of Camino Real St. The applicant and property owners are Iverson Tree Service for Mr. Chris Callero.
VI. ORDERS OF BUSINESS
1. Report and discussion on root removals on the McMills construction project located on the west side of Santa Rita St., 2 north of Sixth Ave.
2. Review and comment on a proposed installation of a wood split-rail fence in Mission Trail Nature Preserve.
3. Review and discuss a revision to the tree permit ordinances and procedures.
VII. REPORTS FROM STAFF AND COMMISSION
1. Receive verbal report from the Ad hoc Beach Committee.
2. Forester’s report.
VIII. ADJOURNMENT
Any writings or documents provided to a majority of the Forest and Beach Commission regarding any item on this agenda will be made available for public inspection in the Planning and Building Department located at City Hall, on Monte Verde between Ocean and 7th Avenues during normal business hours.

The regular meeting of the Forest and Beach Commission of the City of Carmel-by-the-Sea, California was
held on the above date at the hour of 1 :32 p.m. The meeting was adjourned to the tour of inspection and
reconvened the meeting at 2:37p.m.
PRESENT: Lisa Boardman

STAFF PRESENT: Mike Branson, City Forester
Margi Perotti, Secretary to the Forest and Beach Commission
II. PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE
Members of the audience joined the Commission in the Pledge of Allegiance.

IV. CONSENT AGENDA
1. Consideration of the minutes for the 5 April2012 regular meeting.
It was moved by KADIS and seconded by LEVERONE to approve the consent calendar. The motion passed by the following roll call vote:

ABSTAINED: COMMISSION MEMBERS: NONE

V. APPLICATIONS/PUBLIC HEARINGS

Mike Branson, City Forester presented his staff report and addressed questions of the Commission.
Chairperson LEVERONE opened the public hearing at 2:42p.m. Richie Dunn; Leslie Dunn, and Mike Iverson, appeared before the Commission. The public hearing was closed at 2:59p.m.
It was moved by BOARDMAN and seconded by KADIS to deny the application for removal The motion carried by the following roll call vote:
AYES: COMMISSION MEMBERS: BOARDMAN, KADIS, REFUERZO, LEVERONE
NOES: COMMISSION MEMBERS: NONE
ABSTAINED: COMMISSION MEMBERS: NONE
ABSENT: COMMISSION MEMBERS: NONE
V. ORDERS OF BUSINESS

Chair LEVERONE opened the public hearing at 3:05p.m. Steve Brooks and Karen Ferlito appeared before the Commission. The public hearing was closed at 3:42 p.m.
No action taken.

Chair LEVERONE opened the public hearing at 3:46p.m. Karen Ferlito appeared before the Commission. The public hearing as closed at 3:47p.m.
Following discussion, it was moved by LEVERONE and seconded by REFUERZO to forward a recommendation to the Planning Commission to leave the area natural and do not install a fence.
The motion carried by the following roll call vote:
A YES: COMMISSION MEMBERS: BOARDMAN, REFUERZO, LEVERONE
NOES: COMMISSION MEMBERS: KADIS
ABSTAINED: COMMISSION MEMBERS: NONE
ABSENT: COMMISSION MEMBERS: NONE
3. Review and discuss a revision to the tree permit ordinances and procedures.

Chair LEVERONE opened the public hearing at 3:58 p.m. Karen Ferlito and Steve Brooks appeared before the Commission. The hearing was closed at 3:59 p.m.
This item was continued to the next meeting to finalize the tag design and language to be on the tag.
